Almalyk Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Along the Almaly stream, Malguzar Mountains. A.N. Golikov in 1985 (1988f., 1991f.), within the Arenigian (460, p. 60). Stratotype at Uryuklysay. Initially, in 1985, A.N. Golikov identified it as the Zaamin Fm, and in 1991, it was renamed the Almalyk Suite due to the reassignment of the original name.

Lithology and Thickness
According to A., the suite is composed of clayey-siltstone, clayey-mica, and calcareous slates containing layers and lenses of dolomites, limestones, and rarely marls. Thickness: 1260m (?).
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Contacts are tectonic. According to A.N. Golikov, it is stratigraphically conformable with the underlying Akchapkan Fm
Upper contact
Contacts are tectonic. According to A.N. Golikov, it is stratigraphically conformable with the overlying Akmullin Fm (460).
Regional extent
Western part of the Turkestan Range, basin of the Zaaminsu River, northern slope of the Malguzar Mountains, in tectonic blocks.

Contains graptolites - Corymbograptus nitidus (Hall.), Phyllograptus densus Törnq., Tetragraptus acclinatus (Keble.), Pendeograptus fruticosus (Hall.), Expansograptus hirundo (Salter.), Exp. extensus (Hall.) and others; conodonts - Drepanodus arcuatus Pand., Paroistodus parallelus (Pand.), Drepanoistodus suberectus (Pand.) and others; algae Solenopora peachii (Nich. et Ether.).
